PORTLAND, MAINE---Cowbster© will soon be made available to the general public Cowbster, a daring new cow lobster hybrid, will soon be featured on restaurant menus across America.
Cowbster was developed using a highly controversial method of gene splicing to combine two of America's favorite meals. Bored scientists at now defunct stem-cell research labs came up with the idea of combining a cow and a lobster while drinking heavily one night. "It just hit me like a white blood cell attacking an invading body.", comments Phil Knigh, the driving force behind the Cowbster hybrid. "I love Lobster and I love steak. It stands to reason that I would love steak and lobster together twice as much!" Out of work stem-cell protesters have already begun to design new picket signs in anticipation of protesting the Cowbster's release. "It's not natural." comments Jerry LaVache, former stem-cell research protester. "I don't care how good they taste, it's just not right seeing a little cow with pincers inside of a fish tank." In spite of potential outcry, several restaurant chains have already expressed interest in Cowbster. Red Lobster has already begun preparations for the introduction of an entirely new Cowbster based menu. "We're very excited about the new Cowbster product.", Laura Willingly, spokesperson for the Cowbster development team at Red Lobster, indicates. "We believe this is the next step in seafood technology and one the general public will willingly embrace." On the rumor that Red Lobster may already have plans to change their moniker to Red Cowbster Laura Willingly states, "While we do not currently have plans to change the well known Red Lobster name, if public interest in the Cowbster product continues to blossom we may have to rethink our business paradigm." Still some detractors insist that Cowbster is a bad idea. Thomas Neighceyer, a former colleague of Phil Knigh's and stem-cell researcher, comments, "It's not even real. He just Photoshopped together a cow and a lobster. The color of the antennae don't even match the pincers." Only time will tell if Cowbster becomes the next taste-tation or simply remains just another internet prank. |
